Having read quite a few threads over time, every so often, a "world's tallest", "world's largest" stat is mentioned. In most cases, we are aware of these specifics with regard to our city, but reasonably unaware of others.

Please share any world's [insert attribute, no matter how arbitrary] tallest, largest, deepest, most narrow, oldest etc. that applies. I'll start:

Atlanta
1.) World's largest toll free calling zone
2.) World's largest mass of exposed granite: Stone Mountain
3.) World's busiest airport: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International

Go!

Interesting idea. Never really thought about it, the first thing that comes to mind for Miami is:
1. Worlds busiest Cruise Ship Port.
2. Art Basel worlds largest annual art fair
3. Miami Boat Show worlds largest boat show. At least according to its website.
4. The only place in the world where Aligators and Crocodiles live together in the same ecosystem.

That's all I can think of for now.

Interesting list. I wasn't aware that Miami was home to the worlds largest art fair, but I've heard mention of the boat show on the Travel Channel.

It has been growing every year. Been here for a bit now but being its in December in Miami people are loving it and it gets bigger every year. It is a spin off from the famous Art Basel show from Basel Switzerland. There is also an Art Basel Hong Kong show every year. But Miami has now become the largest and fairly quickly as the first show was only in 2001. Even for people who do not care much for Art it is a fun thing to do for that week down here with many of the galleries having free showings etc.. Only problem is all the traffic.

Indianapolis:

Worlds largest children`s museum.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the world's largest spectator sporting facility.

Indianapolis airport solar farm is largest of its kind.

The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument has been turned into the "world's largest Christmas tree" in downtown Indianapolis.

There may be more but I was only looking for largest.

Very cool. Not sure if construction has begun, but I remember reading a while back that the worlds largest casino was proposed for Miami as well.

Nice list. It seems as though I knew about the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but I had no idea that it was also home to the worlds largest children's museum.

This is why I created such a thread; to get away from the typical topics of discussion and possibly uncover facts that go mostly unnoticed.

I wasn't aware of that. I'll check to see if there's an image of it via google, I'd like to see it.

There was mention of a monster billboard to be mounted on Corey Tower here, but it doesn't seem to be anything groundbreaking even for Atlanta to me, much less the world lol

San Jacinto I didn't know of, thanks.

A Houston poster once mentioned a tower there as the tallest of its kind outside of a CBD I believe, but I can't remember the name.

That would be the Williams tower, however that title no longer applies.
