When choosing among these areas, and considering factors such as safety, weather (major priority), cost of living and schools, I'd like hear opinions on which of these areas are best to raise a family? Please explain your choice as we are eager for opinions. We will have job opportunities available in each area. My wife and I and three small kids would be coming from NJ. Thanks in advance for any helpful insights.

What kind of environment are you looking for? My choice would be Orlando for everything.

DP all day. Not only is it a great area with some great spots, but it's like five minutes to Universal, I-drive, and Disney. Round Rock and Snottsdale just can't compare.

I'd pick Scottsdale out of these three, with Doctor Phillips second.

Could you please provide your thought process to
help understand your choice and/or why you ruled out
the other two choices? Thanks in advance.

I've visited all three and I personally like Scottsdale, but as a college student, I would prefer South Scottsdale. North Scottsdale is more family oriented. The schools are much better in N. Scottsdale as it's a newer area and more geared toward families. I think the weather overall is better in Arizona than Florida or Texas because of the lower humidity. I've spent a few summers in Orlando, and I think a dry 105 is better than a humid 95. In Orlando, summer means getting super sweaty after walking outside for 20-30 minutes. You're probably at higher risk for heat stroke in Scottsdale, but you generally will also be drier. Both Orlando and Scottsdale have great winters, better than Round Rock. Doctor Phillips and North Scottsdale are both relatively safe. I personally would choose Scottsdale based on the weather and desert scenery.

There's a city/suburb called "Doctor Phillips"? Did the U.S. finally run out of normal-sounding names for cities??

I think the weirder part is the namesake of the city was a man named Dr. Phillip Phillips. But he owned a large number of citrus farms in an area that stretched over 9 counties, and made several innovations in the processing and packaging of orange juice.

Doctor Phillips, Florida
