The main Hip Hop scenes that are on fire now IMO are LA, Chicago, ATL (though it has been slippin for the last couple of years), Florida, Seattle, the DMV, and the NYC (mainly their underground scene, which is hella crazy).

Seattle's rap scene isn't that great. Don't believe the hype.

Well if you keep listening to the radio and tv to get your "hip hop", then you won't actually hear the best the South has to offer.

The South had help from the New York supported post Biggie bad boy era who started the materialistic, bragging, horribly lyrically trend that is still with us today.

To be honest, you would find more Hiphop scenes overseas than you would in the states. I heard there's still a lot of B Boying in Japan. In certain pockets of Europe, you would find a lot of new emcees popping up.

With as diverse as Brazil's music scene is, I can only imagine what their Hip Hop sounds and cultures are like.

I like the Hip Hop scenes in the UK and France. Israel and Palestine have some interesting scenes as well.

Yeah, and what I like about international Hiphop is that it's more in tuned with the grassroots elements.
