I've seen that mentioned a lot as well. Not sure what's going on in Baltimore, but with a current rate of over 5 only 6 weeks into the new year is quite high, especially being in January/February which are colder months and normally see lower numbers.

I've also noticed Indinapolis is quite high this year, as well as last year.

A few other rates:

Kansas City: 9 (2.0)
Washington DC: 16 (2.5)

The latest I found for St. Louis was just through January, but it was already up to 14 murders, which is a rate of 4.4. It is possibly it's higher than Baltimore by now.

Pittsburgh - 10 (rate of 3.27 per 100,000) scary. Highest its been since 2008.

I thought the same thing, but the city limits are large and there are 430,000 people there. Still seems quite high for mid February.
