Cleveland has a bigger and more dense urban core, along with rapid transit and light rail, making the city easier to live in without a car.

DT/OTR is better than anything in Cleveland but the typical Cleveland neighborhood is more urban

Yeah that's my view. Cleveland is more urban, but I find Cincy much more livable on the whole. I don't know of an answer to OTR in Cleveland.

Cincinnati nowadays, Cleveland could become more urban easily but it’s core is in pretty rough shape in a lot of areas.

Cleveland structurally.

I can imagine the vibrancy back in the day before its stature started falling.

In my eyes they're pretty similar, but Cincy's dense core is a bit more pronounced than Cleveland; whose built form is more subdued but extends a larger area. Mt Adams, OTR, Clifton Heights and the area east of UC are urban compared to most neighborhoods in Cleveland.

Does it though? The time I've spent in Cleveland I remember huge swaths of relatively low density single family homes not too far from the urban core.

Cincinnati is smaller and more compact but I feel like the housing stock is generally a little more urban and the bones in places like OTR can't be matched anywhere in Cleveland.
