Is this thread eternal? It would be actually cool to see this thread open for 20 years to see what people's complaints were in 2014 and what they will be in 2034.
SF is a dump. I work in tech and you could not pay me to live there. The weather in July looks no different than February, the homeless population is out of control and cost of living is ridiculous. LA is expensive too, but you aren't forced to live in Beverly Hills. SF has no cheap neighborhoods.
My native pride basically makes me choose SFBA over LA.
That said, having been away for 15 years, LA or SFBA feels more like home than anywhere else. I miss pushy Asian vendors, a multitude of languages spoken while mall walking, and mixing with “others” just as a course of living any given day. LA/SF divides dissolve when you go anywhere else.

Yea, the two have a lot of similarities, but different enough that making a trip from one to the other interesting.
5)When it comes to LA vs SF, take this sage advice:
my pic
That's fine if you don't dude. The SF Bay Area is very scenic. The East Bay weather around Oakland is great and in Vallejo, even better imo. But the vibe of the Bay to me has always felt off. I could never quite put my finger on why that is.
I am in SF/Oak constantly due to work and enjoy myself for the two or three days I'm up there (especially if I'm staying at the Claremont in Berkeley). But beyond that I just get tired of it. There isn't as much to do, businesses close earlier, it's colder, homeless are more aggressive with SF having an especially high concentration of shouting homeless too, the city has increasingly gotten more dirty, the smell of urine reeks around every other corner, etc.
I feel like people fall in love more with LA even if they aren't from the area. It just brings more value despite being more of a world city than SF.

And that LA just up until the early 90s when the brain drain went into full effect.
Lol
Oh my....you don't sound too happy. Aren't you living where you wanna be?
I love LA....I grew up in Torrance.... BUT I really love Sf & the Bay Area too. I would happily take either one...............& wannabe superstars don't matter.
Haha People always get knee deep in their feelings about my posts, but they NEVER address the post I am replying to.
LOL
