Richmond. People are more friendly, easy going, it's more scenic with rolling hills and MUCH less traffic.

What do you consider a better standard of living? Dallas is going to have the most diversity and amenities. Richmond is friendlier.

In terms of standard of living, I would say low crime, limited traffic, basic amenities, cost of living. In addition, I would say people who don't run with scissors and play nicely with others

Well, if that is your criteria for standard of living, I would still say Dallas.

According to this website, the Dallas MSA has a lower cost of living than Richmond MSA (which is pretty surprising since the Dallas MSA is almost 7 times larger than the Richmond MSA). It seems like everything is more expensive in the Richmond MSA in comparison to the Dallas MSA.

Also, I don't know what the current crime statistics are for the Richmond MSA, but Richmond had a lot of crime for a city its size in the 80s, 90s, and even in the last decade. It has also been ranked as one of the most dangerous cities in the US.

1st of all. The cities are of drastically different size so comparing them is like apples and oranges. Dallas for conversation sake is safer crime wise and everyone knows Texas at least for know is the cats meow as far as cost of living, jobs etc... I would suspect people would be nice in either place. Richmond would have more former NYers and perhaps brash individuals who have relocated from DC, Philly perhaps.
