I much prefer the dungeness crab and the Alaska King crab. I think this boils down to east and west coast. The gulf shrimp is great but the fish isn't great.
The West Coast has better oysters (lower salinity = better flavor).
I prefer the Dungeness Crab, Pacific Salmon, Sushi, Oysters and Louie Salads of the West Coast to any East Coast seafood specialty. Also, Seattle and San Francisco are the two best seafood cities in the Country. The fish markets are better, the seafood is fresher, and there are better seafood restaurants overall. To me this isn't even close.
^ How is west coast seafood fresher than east coast seafood?
Yeah, that's alot of nonsense. I've been to seafood places on the coast of Maine, along the Chesapeake Bay, and the outer banks of N.C. And the seafood doesn't get any fresher.
I like them all, fresh seafood is just good no matter where it comes from. I voted East coast though, because I just eat more of it and have grown to downright love it.
Maine Lobster
Maine Shrimp
Massachusetts Striped Bass
Nantucket Bay Scallops
Atlantic Blue Fin Tuna
Island Creek Oysters
Ipswich Little Neck Clams
Ipswich Whole Belly Clams
Maine and North Carolina Monkfish
Massachusetts Bluefish
Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab
Maryland Horseshoe Crab
That just scratches the surface, because I left out so much more (Especially from the Carolina's) I am part of a Fish Share out of Cape Cod, so eat tons of fresh caught New England Seafood, cant get enough of it.
Fukushima radiation has turned me off from West Coast seafood-ok not really, but still it is a concern.
I mostly love crabs (Maryland), fish tacos and sushi (West Coast) but I voted East Coast overall considering lobster and salmon.
