Well I can't give a top 10 and a bottom 10 but for most proud, I'd say New York with Philadelphia coming in at a close second.
Least proud? Well assuming we're talking about major cities here........maybe Seattle? Minneapolis? I've never heard anyone from those cities talk about how "proud" they are to be from there.
Uh, what? I live in Minneapolis and I'm very proud to live here. Of course, we don't have that inherent need to work that into every sentence we formulate when having a conversation with someone from somewhere else.

Looks like someone has never been to the Seattle forums. I'll definitely say Atlanta is up there. there are a lot of transplants there, and you coukd get by bashing ATL and not encounter many fist fights. The multigenerational natives are definitely proud, but they're pretty rare in ATL. my hometown KC is full of natives, and you don't hear a ton of KC pride either. But I woukdnt say theyre the least proud. I think Birmingham may be up there. I never heard too much San Jose pride. Certain parts like East San Jose has proud people, but the rest of the city is hardly like that.

If youre not proud of where you live then youre just saying you live in a dump automatically. If people that live there cant like where they live then why should others be expected to?
So, cities that produce the most "(Fill in the Blank) is the greatest city in the world and nowhere else can compare even if I don't live there anymore"?

Ashamed could be a reason for lack of pride, or humility maybe, or countless other reasons related to the person and not the city... Furthermore, to say lack of pride automatically equals a city is a dump is just dumb. As for your last question (somewhat related anyway), there's a thread about a recent study that ranked states on percentages of people who wanted to leave, and I think even in the state that was "most loved" (in their survey) still had around 20% of people wanting to move to another state...
I think you really have to live in a city and know people who grew up there(not just transplants) to answer this accurately. Often people who are proudest of a city are those that grow up their and never leave(so it's all they know)--or those that move to a "desirable" place with high expectations and then never shut up about how great it is(though sometimes they end up changing their mind after a few months or a year)...
Plus, people from some places are just more direct and vocal about their love for their city, while others are modest about it in passing, but they still have a ton of civic pride--they just don't get in your face about it.
