We are talking about the shopping districts, not the whole city of Beverly Hills. If you want to make this what is more urban, the city of BH or Buckhead then there would be an argument. But not when it comes to the shopping districts.
Yet people are denying that when Buckhead Atlanta comes, it won't be urban when renderings or constructions pics clearly disprove that.
Directly behind Saks, Barney's Neiman Marcus and the Beverly Hills Hotel on the south side of Wilshire are these beautiful streets with nice apts and condos.
Absolutely gorgeous! Looks very European-esque, like Spain in a way. I can only imagine how much the rent and buyer costs are for those apartments and condos respectively.
Its Beverly Hills, not New York or Chicago or San Francisco. Beverly Hills is what it is. I don't think the city wants to be like those cities you mentioned. We're talking about shopping districts. Now go back to your room and do your homework or play your video games.

Clearly, you don't get it. You come in talking about Paris, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, single family houses a 10 minute walk away, LA not walkable, people trying to make BH this and that, the Champs Elysees. Why are you rambling on and on? It's about the shopping districts of Beverly Hills and Buckhead. Not Paris, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Michigan Avenue, Union Square.......
Why would a strip mall make Buckhead the same as Beverly Hills? There are no suburban-style malls or strip mall-type developments in Beverly Hills. There are no big parking lots in Beverly Hills. In contrast, pretty much everything has giant parking lots in Buckhead.
And, no Beverly Hills is not similar in auto orientation to Buckhead. Buckhead doesn't even have sidewalks for 90% of the area. It has almost no pedestrians. It's like a less dense version of Calabasas or something.
I'm surprised nobody from Atlanta saw this post. Clearly this person knows nothing about the Buckhead Atlanta development. I'll provide a link to show you guys more about it. I don't see any "strip mall" here.
To the point.. Yes, Beverly Hills has the upper hand as far as a more urban shopping district is concerned. Someone said before, once Buckhead Atlanta is completed, it would make Buckhead more competitive in the category of urban shopping districts and (perhaps) give BH a run for its money.
I lived in LA. I'm not delusonal like some of you are. Outside of the little BH triangle, it's just single family homes. That's not a consistent dense urban environment that you would see in NYC, Chicago, or SF. I certainly don't feel like I'm in the big city on that google maps link.
64% of the housing in Beverly Hills is in multi-unit structures. It isn't as dense as the cores of those cities because it doesn't have to be. It's 10 miles from DTLA.
