People in PG will laugh at you if tell them that Baltimore has influence in PG. So what if people eat crabs? They aren't driving to Baltimore to get them. I go to Bethesda Crab House and Mike's in Annapolis all of the time. They tell me that they have to import crabs from Louisiana because of the shortages. PG hates Baltimore more than DC. Your Ravens analogy doesn't make any sense. There are Redskins fans in Arundel and Howard Counties.

Right outside DC," just as clarification. Now I will say people enjoy recreational activities in Baltimore just for a change of scenery etc. I mean heck it's what 45 mins max to Downtown Baltimore from almost any point of Prince George's, most parts less. The state is geographically which is a hidden benefit honestly to have many different options all within a small radius.

Right^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
People in PG hate Baltimore with a passion even more than DC people hate Baltimore. In fact, DC doesn't even have an issue with Baltimore, it's more PG than anything.

Nah,

Montgomery, PG and Charles County are decidely Redskins fans. The Redskins fan base is much larger than the Ravens. No where in Maryland can match these three counties population in the state. Baltimore City included.

Anyways people from PG do indeed eat Baltimore Crabs as a tradition which is based in Baltimore. AND not to mention theres plenty of Ravens and Orioles fans in PG. They may not look up to Baltimore as they do DC. But Baltimore does have an influence on PG if anything.

You obviously don't know the culture of PG if you think that anyone in PG considers Baltimore as an influence. Resident is 100 on this.

BTW - People in DC go to Bmore all the time to eat. I go to Moe's at least four or five times a year. I don't know about Ravens fans in PG but i do se Oriole gear from the older crowd.

I dated a girl from West Bmore who's dad was a die hard Redskins fan, so the whole where fans live point is moot. At one point the Redskins were the only team South of Pittsburgh and Philly all the way to Atlanta.

Very good point here, I graduated Morgan State and this was highly noticeable on campus. People from PG used to call it "Bamamore." It was such a competition/in state rivalry thing going on. People eventually grew out of this childish mentality as they got older, but it was definitely a pride thing of PG vs Bmore early on. The DC cats were actually so cool and laid back about it, as if they already had earned respect and didn't look to beef with anyone.

Up until recently I'd have said Baltimore was the primary influence, but it seems to be shifting to DC.

Observations:

- Montgomery County and PG County definitely lean heavily to DC and carry a huge amount of the state's population. In addition, those two counties (especially the former, though) have an enormous influence on Maryland's government and Maryland in general.
- Frederick County and Charles County are also growing fairly rapidly and thus exponentially gaining more influences from the expanding, sprawly DC region.
- Howard County leans decidedly Baltimore but definitely has quite a few influences from the DC area.
- Baltimore City + Baltimore County are an integral part of the Baltimore region and bring some influences to the whole state, but their immediate sphere of influence is smaller than MoCo and PG County (aside from perhaps sports teams).
- Harford County leans Baltimore, Cecil County has a few influences from B-More.
- AA County is a mixed bag.
- Carroll County is rural and doesn't take many influences from either region, but more people commute to the Baltimore area than the DC area there, so I'd say it leans Baltimore.

Looking at the population alone, I'd say they're about even, but the influence the DC area brings to the whole state overshadows Baltimore's, since many places in Baltimore's metro takes influences from DC's metro. Just look at MoCo and PG County.

Exactly. And since when was eating blue crabs a Baltimore exclusive? And PG is pure-blood Redskins Territory. End of discussion. And yes, you'll find us up there in those counties as well as all the way up in Frederick County. Just like there are a lot of Steelers fans on that side of Maryland as well.....
