Houston is where the Deep South meets the Southwest.
It has all the elements of a Deep South city. Swamps, bayou's, pine forests, Spanish Moss draped Live Oaks, Gulf Coast beaches, food, music, culture, extremely laid back vibe, etc.
Houston meeting the southwest is a stretch, IMO.
What elements of the southwest are a part of Houston? Besides demographics.
Wrong. Nobody said anything about being on Savannah's level, but Charleston *is* gay-friendly. Heck, the majority of the city's residents voted against the referendum banning gay marriage in SC several years back when public sentiment wasn't nearly as approving of gay marriage as it is now.
Dallas is not part of the Deep South at all. Southern Plains, sure. Not the Deep South.
Which is why so many Okies like it there.
