Keep in mind the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is a two anchor metro area with two urban cores.

That's two major cities full of performing arts and activities (and traffic congestion).

I don't know much about Denver, but I've read people in Colorado don't like Texans, so I guess you can say we're friendlier.

Denver. I don't like Dallas that much, I prefer Houston or Austin.

Denver is much more my type of place though. Denver is just beautiful and I like the culture there.

To be fair, half the people here are from Texas or California

Not quite accurate on State Farm. They are consolidating their national operations into 3 huge new centers in Phoenix, Dallas and Atlanta. The HQ's remain in Bloomington, IL.

Not quite:

Moved from/to CO:
3% from TX
6% from CA

Moved to/from CO:
4% to TX
5% to CA

And these are the two largest states in the country.

DFW. The affordability is the tipping point for me. Denver is great, but just too expensive. Both are good areas nonetheless.

We have settled on the Denver Metro area and the Dallas Metro area due to the regions' respective economies as well as the more "mild" winters compared to other places (yes, I know it does snow a good bit in Denver).

I would like to know which is better in the following categories:

1.) Quality affordable housing
2.) Quality public school systems
3.) Performing arts (namely music and theatre) facilities, troupes, and shows
4.) Family friendly excursions / activities
5.) Friendliness of people (and openness to newcomers)
6.) Taxes and overall cost of living
7.) Traffic and transportation (both freeways and public transit)
8.) Restaurant scene (variety of ethnic foods)

Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated.
1. Dallas
2. Push
3. Push
4. Denver
5. Push
6. Dallas
7. Push
8. Dallas

Dallas=3, Denver=1, Push=4

With that being said, I'd rather move back to Denver than live in Dallas.
