For a city I'd take the Burgh hands down. But Nashville has a better climate. Much milder winters.

Pittsburgh is located within 500 miles of half the U.S. population.

Depends on which measure. If we're talking jobs, Nashville wins in terms of quantity, but I'd wager that Pittsburgh wins in terms of quality, given its income growth rate since 2000.

Fair assessment.

That's subjective, but most people would probably agree since not many people like cold weather.

Yes.

Probably true in terms of outdoor activities at least.

Nashville has the ultimate trump card: BBQ.

More than likely, though Pittsburgh nightlife tends to be underrated.

Yes, though Allegheny County and Davidson County are pretty much equally Asian. The big difference is with the black and Hispanic populations.

Imo:

Even - Location (They're both decent locations)
Even - Education (I don't know much about the school systems, but I think the higher education opps are fairly equal)
Pittsburgh - Economy (Seems more robust)
Nashville - Housing (I'm going by cost here)
Nashville - Weather (Moderate)
Pittsburgh - Scenery (I haven't really ventured out of the city in Nashville, but within the city, Pittsburgh is amazing)
Even - Activities
Even - Dining (in my limited experience they're both just ok)
Nashville - Nightlife (just by a little bit...I experienced great night life in both cities but Nashville's seemed like it was just busier on a more regular basis)
Pittsburgh - Sports
Even - Diversity (different ways)
? - Shopping

Pittsburgh is more suitable for me, but I have enjoyed Nashville every time I've been.

I'm not sure about Pittsburgh's public schools, but Nashville has a terrible public school system. The suburbs have great schools though. Nashville's college and university enrollment exceeds 90,000 within a 40 mile radius. Vanderbilt University outranks Carnegie Mellon University, and Nashville has three top ranked medical schools and 4 historically black universities.

Nashville's economy is better and growing much faster. Pittsburgh is significantly larger, thus a larger Gross Metro Product and definitely more shopping options. Shopping is getting better in Nashville, with millions of square feet of retail either planned or under construction.
