Last thing I, or anyone outside of these cities, would want is to have the federal government pump billions of $$$ into a city that is otherwise unfit to host the Olympics like they did to Salt Lake City in 2002!
If DC gets the bid then you better be sure the feds will pump money into it, but when the feds put money into it it always seems to be better

When can LA host the Olympics again? - Native Intelligence

LA is ready to host the Olympics for the 3rd time. LA has had the most successful Olympics in history and is by far has the best potential to have it again.

Here is some of LA's plans:
Here Are LA's Huge Plans for the 2024 Olympics - Take Olympic - Curbed LA

They plan to use already existing venues like the stubhub center and LA Coliseum of course which is more efficient then other cities plans.Public transportation played into the proposal, with the SCCOG saying that they are "committed to delivering up to 80 percent of the spectators by public transit," says swimming site Swim Swam, quoting the official bid documents. Considering that the Expo Line be finished, and the Regional Connector will be online, that might actually be true. (Though it'll take you at least two buses to get you to Carson's Stubhub Complex from Downtown.)

Sounds great. I do hope they pick LA

I would imagine they run a special direct route, perhaps a special-edition Silver Line that continues south down 110 until it gets to around the 91 where it would take surface streets directly to StubHub. Or something like the Flyaway buses from Union Station. There are lots of options.

Do any LA posters know how far along the Union Station redevelopment and thru-tracking project is supposed to be in 2024? If transit is a big factor as some posters insist, a renovated and very-improved Union Station would be a huge selling point in LA's favor. Especially if they are able to develop the surrounding vacant lots and create a TOD area with Chinatown/Pueblo, a sort of second downtown hub around "Old LA."

I agree. I read that union station will be up and running for the 2024 Olympics, and union station and union station hotel will be going thru renovations . union station hotel will be getting 7$ million in upgrades.

Union Station Hotel to get $7 million in upgrades

The hope here is that L.A. will be a strong contender because so many facilities are already here, assuming the Coliseum or Rose Bowl could be retrofitted with a running track.

Even without Measure R projects being accelerated, our region can still boast of a serious transit expansion since the 1984 Olympics — when there was no Metro Rail or Metrolink. Metro now runs 87.7 miles of rail and Metrolink service spans six counties. Even without acceleration, Metro is still planning to open five projects in the next decade: the second phase of the Expo Line, the Gold Line Foothill Extension, the Crenshaw/LAX Line, the Regional Connector and the first phase of the Purple Line Extension before 2024. That would make it far easier to travel around to different events.

Default Boston wins 2024 US Summer Olympics Bid

https://twitter.com/USOlympic/status...156032/photo/1

In what is considered an upset by some, Boston has out bid the cities of San Francisco, L.A. (which had previously hosted two prior Summer Olympics), and Washington DC.

Boston winning is a very confusing choice. Journalists in the room during presentations said Boston had the weakest bid, Boston has the most public opposition to the games, they won't have federal funding (a pro that DC had), they don't have the experience for it (pro LA had), doesn't have much natural beauty (pro SF had), & isn't as cosmopolitan as the other 3 cities. Not to mention that in 2024 Boston will have the worst public transportation of the 4 arguably. I feel that the USOC believes that either Paris or an African city will win the bid & didn't want to waste a good city bid on a race the US is unlikely to win. I believe the USOC threw Boston under the bus just so they wouldn't have to go back on their word that the US is bidding
