Houston : Heat and humidity, gas expense, high property taxes.

Minneapolis : Harsh winters (worst in the country), state tax, and no Oil n Gas opportunities, Housing still expensive than Houston.

Your response will be much appericiated.
Too broad. Can you say anything else, like what are you looking for in particular?

Minneaoplis has a more urban core and is smaller, colder, whiter, and more liberal than Houston. I'd rather live in Houston. Winter in the upper Midwest is not cute.

Houston may lack seasons and typical natural beauty, but more than makes up for it with other things such as great culture/arts/museums, diversity, awesome food, economics.

But keep telling everyone your story. Don't forget to mention all of the uneducated dopes who work in the Texas Medical Center and NASA. We have plenty of people moving here, so that's fine.

Houston may be bigger, but Minneapolis has been a big city for longer, and in many ways is more urban because of it.

I know that. My grandparents are natives of Minneapolis. It has a lot to offer. But if you value diversity and cultural amenities, then Houston is the obvious choice. If you are white and looking to be around other white people, you will feel at home in Minneapolis.

40% of the city is not white, so it's probably a given you will not be surrounded exclusively by white people in Minneapolis.

How is Houston better than Minneapolis in terms of cultural amenities? The Twin Cities has a thriving visual arts scene with world-class art museums, a much more vibrant music scene, the third-largest theater market in the country, all four major sports leagues (Houston doesn't), and it's also a major literary and publishing center. Being a metro only half the size of Houston, it punches at least at the same weight.

Houston has the largest theatre district outside of New York City. It also has a museum district with world class museums. We also have a thriving Rap/Hip-Hop scene. And we do have four major sports leagues. We had five until the Aeros left. We have Major League Soccer (a growing sport here in the US). It all ties back to being more diverse.

Minneapolis is a great city and would love to visit someday, but don't discredit Houston. For one it's one of the most diverse cities in the nation, also has a wide range of cultural amenities like SK115 posted, Houston has the largest theatre district outside of NYC. As far as scenery I give it a toss, people don't realize Houston isn't all flat. The northern part is somewhat hilly with covered in pine forest with the southern metro area you have the gulf coast.

I'd say that this is completely relative and that your bias for Minneapolis is clear (not a bad thing). When it comes to arts and museums, it's hard to say which city has a clear edge unless one has extensive experience with both, which I doubt anyone here does. I do know that most people on City Data grossly underestimate what Houston has to offer, and it will always be assumed that a northern city automatically has "better" of any given thing.

The Twin Cities have NHL. Houston has MLS. Both cities have all other major sports.

The Twin Cities has the most theater seats per capita outside of New York and the world-renowned Guthrie Theater. Believe it or not, the Twin Cities also has a thriving hip-hop scene, among several other genres (notably indie and folk rock). Prince alone has basically paved a purple path for the music industry here.

While Major League Soccer is technically a "major league sport", it's not nearly as popular or lucrative as the big four. Houston's enormous Hispanic population is a big driver of its MLS interest, no doubt.
