We have a new year coming up and most cities have a ton of wonderful things moving through the pipeline. I think it's fair to say every city has something they can look forward to in 2015. We have talked about cities building new housing and new office space. We have talked about which cities are growing faster. We have talked about which cities have the best economy. We have talked about which cities have the best food. We have talked about which cities have the most entertainment. We have talked about which cities are the most urban. We have definitely talked about which cities have the best skylines. Etc. etc. etc. etc.
It almost seems like we are running out of things to talk about. I do think there is one thing that is more important than most aspects we haven't spent much time talking about though. Public spaces are paramount to human life. We seek them out for leisure and they have a soothing mechanism for the soul many times. Most cities are building new public spaces which help make our cities so special.
Please post the planned public spaces for your city. I'm sure the board will be interested in seeing all the great things being built around the country. Hopefully we see something’s we can add to our bucket list to look forward to.
It has already been built, but LA recently finished Grand Park which has been received well.
In terms of future public spaces, Seattle is currently building a world class waterfront. There are billions of dollars invested in beautifying our waterfront, so it's likely the most expensive public space currently under works.

Do you have any links to the project or renderings?
In the aerial you can see an empty lot with the foundation of an old building - that lot is currently under construction and will expand the park further (though it might be considered a separate park).
Also downtown, there is the State Historic Park which has been U/C for a few months now. It's not a new park, but it is undergoing some significant improvements.
I think if Los Angeles has a claim to the "Best" public space it would be the overall Los Angeles River upgrade, which spans from Canoga Park to the Eastside.

That's a big space. I love these urban escapes. L.A. is doing so many things across the city. Looks great!
I also really hope this waterfront project in Philly comes to fruition. A study has been authorized to test the feasibility of capping I-95 along the Delaware River ad turning it into a great public space. The renderings look fantastic. It'll probably take a long time, but I think this will eventually happen.
