Yeah, the more I think about it the more I think that was the case. LA should definitely be on the list and prob Philly too. But if you look at their top 5 - it makes sense that they would only be looking at the cities - NY, Chicago, SF, Vegas, and Miami all have the lion's share of the high end shopping largely concentrated within the urban core. Definitely not the case with LA. I think it would be a more accurate study to at least include the urbanized area if not the metro area. It's weird though, when you look at the actual PDF report LA does actually appear on the list.

As far as Virgin Hotel goes:

I went through the LA profile listed in the report and noticed Beverly Hills gets a mention. So I guess JJL might have included the metro areas in its study.

Where did you get that from?

London has the most wealth in the world. NYC is 2nd. LA isn't even in the top 10 though.

Personally I can usually see how much wealth there is in a city by looking at 2 things:

1. High end house and apartment rentals
2. High end escorts

The more of these there are, the wealthier and more "important" the city is.

Chicago isn't even close to LA in either of those two regards. Chicago isn't even close to Las Vegas or Miami either, but somewhere down there with Dallas or Houston. You can't live large in Chicago with the $50m penthouse apartments and pornstar escorts. You can however do that in: New York, LA, Miami and Las Vegas.

NYC has nearly 2x the billionaires as London, no matter what London-based publications show. NYC has more billionaires and millionaires than the entire United Kingdom.

I stand corrected. New York is the center of wealth in the world, followed by London.

I however stand by that Los Angeles isn't up there with the big boys.

NYC has more wealth than the entire UK. There are more wealthy in NYC than in any city on earth. Even London is small potatoes in comparison.

And LA is in the top five cities globally in terms of wealth, and also probably ahead of London.
