Ohio versus Florida (minus Southeast Florida), exclude Southeast Florida (Miami-Dade County, Broward County, Palm Beach County, Saint Lucie County, Indian River County, Okeechobee County) from the discussion.

When you take out Southeast Florida, the two compare relatively evenly. Their population are identical (11-13 million), the number of big cities are identical (Cleveland/Cincinnati/Columbus versus Tampa Bay Area/Orlando/Jacksonville), both would have plethora of small auxiliary cities.

Some factors to compare them on: climate, location, topography, entertainment (nightlife), fun theme parks/amusement parks, historic sites, colleges and/or universities, economy, housing stock, architecture, culinary scene, shopping scene, so on.

The Tampa Bay Area has over 4.5 million people, the Greater Cleveland area + Youngstown have over 4.1 million people. The Greater Orlando area is above 3 million people, whereas the Cincinnati-Dayton Corridor has 3.3 million people. The Jacksonville-Gainesville Corridor has nearly 1.9 million people, whereas the Greater Columbus area has nearly 2.4 million people. Then there are somewhat smaller population centers still in account like Toledo, Naples-Cape Corral, Pensacola, or Tallahassee.

I believe they are a great match-up, clearly similar amount of people would live in both, clearly they have similar set-up in multiple large cities and/or corridors, regions, or expanded metropolises.

Dude Florida is going to win this by beaches alone no matter what part you take out

And if it don't win by beaches it will win by weather

Not really. The big cities in Ohio are way better than the ones in Florida.

I chose Ohio for better weather/climate, better cities/architecture/culture, and my preferred ecosystem of temperate forest and farmland.

Florida does have a lot to recommend it, beaches, interesting flora/fauna, latin culture, and some superb beauty, but overall, I would have to go with Ohio.

As said above, Ohio for living, Florida for visiting.

One of the lowest cost of living states.
7th largest state economy by GDP.
Lower unemployment rates than the national average.
Hugely important state historically in technology, politics, exploration, invention and social culture.
Diverse geography, from the Lake to the Appalachians.

I guess I'm not seeing the problem. People from Ohio should be proud of a state that has contributed so much, and still does. I definitely am. I would put up its contributions against any state in the US, easily.

But yeah, Florida is going to win this solely because people will only consider that they went on vacation there once.

I want to compare myself to David Beckham except for his face, abs and torso. Other than that, I think I compare pretty favorably.
