Someone in another thread made the argument that millenials/young professionals find the Hampton Roads area inherently more desirable than a major inland metro like Atlanta simply because the former has a beach. I think this group values professional opportunities over the beach first and foremost, and after that social, cultural, entertainment, etc options that cater to and feature a critical mass of young professionals like themselves. What say ye?
Norfolk is obviously closer to the beach than Atlanta, but Atlanta definitely isn't "too far." It's an easy day trip either to the Gulf or Atlantic coast.
Umm I'mfrom Hampton Roads and can't even vote for it here. Atlanta was one of the cities I considered moving to after college. Beach is a nice perk, but ya gotta eat.
I've lived in both. I prefer the Hampton Roads area, but Atlanta takes this hands down for jobs.
That's basically what the poster was saying. All things being even most people would chose to be on the East Coast by a Beach than inland. The poster was referring to people who could KEEP their job and chose HR or ATL. I would stay by the beach or water first and foremost...as would many. IF they can keep the same job...JOBS is the main reason people don't stay here...when they start bringing JOBS...you wont be able to kick people outta this place!
