People on C-D have different and interesting perceptions of what they consider to be urban and semi-urban. So, I was wondering what the relative consensus was on these cities:

Cincinatti
St. Louis
Portland, Oregon
Atlanta
San Diego
New Orleans
Miami
Phoenix
Denver
Houston

Please choose one option for every city in the poll for a total of 10 selections. Feel free to discuss your selections.

Post photos if you like as well.

I consider all of them to have urban aspects about them.

Hmm, I didn't know people had any question about Cincy, St. Louis, and New Orleans. Especially considering the histories (in particular St. Louis and New Orleans) of how they were built... they're pretty urban... Am I correct to assume then this is metro based/designed to include suburban sprawl?

In this thread, I'm focusing mainly on the city propers.

However, if some of the suburbs help in determining the overall urban aspect of the city, then those can be considered as well.

urban means of the city. All of these provide centers of commerce so you are right, all of these have urban sections.

I don't know what semi-urban means.

I don't know what semi-urban means.
I assume it meant low-density areas that wouldn't be too out of place in most people's image of suburbia.

Phoenix should not have the word urban in any context anywhere close to it's name.
