Ok, we're not that gigantic as Vegas. However, Liv is one of the "smaller" ones I listed. I just found the official numbers for Nikki Beach and it's 2,500. It has 2 big dance floors, terraces overlooking the beach, and beds, couches and lounges sprawled on the sands facing the ocean. If you want to, you can take your SO with you into the ocean for a late night swim while at the club.

Club Space is even bigger, I couldn't find the numbers but it's 75,000 sq ft with terraces. Btw, Club Space is the closest we have to a Vegas style club, however it's synonymous with the electronic music in the USA. Out of curiosity I checked general admission for this friday, it's 75USD per person. And it's sold out, so now you can buy a 700USD ticket per person to get in into a "sold out" show, that doesn't include a VIP area, or bottle of grey goose, just a one man admission into the club.

Which is my original point about our nightlife, it's damn good but damn expensive. If you don't have money then it will never be worth it for you. Anyways, I'm leaving for Tokyo this Thursday and a friend is having a friend come from San Francisco (of all places) and he wanted to go out Wednesday night. We looked at several options, which included prices just now. One was admission to the basement for 2,500 USD for one bottle of vodka (if you thought 1,000 USD was expensive which is standard here for the exclusive ). We settled on a yacht party for tomorrow where a record label is throwing.

Which is another beauty of Miami, clubs on the beach, mega clubs like Space, yacht parties, pool parties, the list is endless.

Partying in Vegas Compared to Miami - Miami Beach 411
I don't agree with it (it was written in 2007, much has changed since then), except for the no lines part. There are no lines in Miami Beach. Or at least no lines at our exclusive clubs. There is a crowd and people from there are handpicked inside. You can buy a ticket for 200USD and not be guaranteed entry. Many times (because I'm friends with a club promoter here I hear all these stories) people buy these tickets and get told at the door, the club is "full" but they can enter if they add an extra 100. It leaves a bad taste in people's mouth. Whereas in Las Vegas you queue up, you wait your turn, you get in. Miami (Beach) is about exclusivity, Las Vegas is about the everyday man.

I would rank Miami tops for nightlife then NYC and Vegas. I'm not a Miami booster but it really does have everything nightlife wise. It has the Vegas-y mega clubs, touristy bars, salsa clubs, Caribbean clubs, strip clubs, casinos, lounges,Irish pubs, beach bars, hipster bars etc. etc. I get the NYC argument because of its size but with Miami it is really infused with its culture which makes it a notch above. Vegas is cool but definitely more exclusively tourist-centric. As far as ranking, I would say something like:

Miami
Vegas
NYC

New Orleans, Montreal

LA, Chi

SF

In Liv just this weekend you have Cedric Graves, Tiesto, David Guetta, Erik Morillo to choose from on different days. And then next weekend they start with Paul Oakenfold. At Nikki Beach we're looking at Sander van Doorn, Don Diablo, Firebeatz, Benny Benassi, Amine Edge. At Space it's names like Marco Carola, Paul Van Dyk, Gareth Emery. Mansion has Armin Van Buuren, Fedde Le Grand, and Martin Garrix.

I'm getting exhausted. Those are A-list names, I'm not mentioning the B-list names, many of which I like more, because this list would be 10x as big. Point is EVERY club here has some A-list name spinning. Can you imagine that intensity anywhere else? For electronic music only places like Ibiza can properly handle Miami.

Also just out of Miami Beach, and a story that only can happen in Miami

Rapper Rich Homie Quan was denied VIP access to Liv because supposedly it was full. Quan then punched the bouncer, demanded to get in because he's a rapper, a millionaire, and a friend of Flo Rida, then he and his entourage ran off to their yacht and raced away before the police could come to the scene

I'm laughing because it's hilarious, only in Miami does someone make a getaway in a yacht!

Tiesto, Guetta, PVD, Benny Benassi, AVB, Fedde le Grand etc are all pop acts. Dj/produces who's names are known to the casual club goer. Nothing to get excited about IMO. Promoters book names like Tiesto and Oakenfold and PVD because they're the biggest draws. But they aren't pulling in the discerning techno/house head.

To give you an idea where I'm coming from, Dj/producers such as...

Rodhad
Jeff Mills
Nicole Moudaber
Ben UFO
Joy Orbison
Marc Houle
Paco Osuna
Legowelt
Gaiser

I've recently got into Willie Burns' productions

I could go on here...but that's a short list of names to get excited about.

Haha-wow. Having Rich Homie Quan assault a bouncer sure must enhance the nightlife lol.

I'll never understand people obsessed with the lives of celebrities or other people. I know the cast of Real World-Philly ran into several problems when they expected to be treated differently at local spots.

haha you have to admit it's funny he made off in a getaway yacht

But it does show something, Liv was so packed they turned away a famous rapper. That's pretty much unheard of in other club scenes.

Haha-it's a pretty baller move. We actually stayed at Fontainebleau for my brother's bachelor party in 2010-awesome time, although only did Liv one night and I was not the most sober.

Miami is definitely unique though with the beach right there.
