I am thoroughly embarassed for everyone that I am the first person to vote for our capital.

I would love for it to be Boston, but it just isn't.

And Houston? is Houston even the most important city in Texas?

EDIT: I now see the OP did say "cultural and economic" which decreases the utter dominance I thought DC had since it is mostly important politically. I would still say DC but I think it is a lot closer between all 4 when looking specifically at "cultural and economic". SF and Boston are very important culturaly and economically and Houston definitely deserves mention for economics (culturally? Not until they start selling purple drank at McDonalds)

The top four in no order is New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington DC. You need to make corrections for this is a matter of who's 5th, not 4th.

Houston simply isn't the cultural force that San Francisco and Boston are. Economics are debatable. DC get my vote for sheer political influence though.

I would rank the top 4 this way:

1. Washington D.C.
2. New York City
3. Los Angeles
4. all the rest

I agree that Washington DC is more important than NYC. That is why I voted for Houston on this poll

Definately DC. I mean... it's the nations capital after all... The other three are perhaps equally important regionally, but not as much nationally.

I disagree. Outside of politics, New York City beats DC in about everything.

Only in sheer numbers, not quality
