i dont care about world class retail shops or dining options. i base stuff on education, places for kids to grow up, economy, cost of living, the people (big item for me --- as in good ppl with high morals, friendly, not selfish and aggressive attitudes, etc).
With this criteria, Greenville wins hands down IMO.
Not that Orlando is full of unfriendly bad people, its certainly not but Greenville is pretty much defined by this.

I like both for very different reasons. but as i get older and my kids grow, i'm looking into getting back to the Greenville area as i'd like to transfer there with my job eventually.
What is the point of living in Florida if you don't live near the beach?
Living near the mountains seems better than living in flat area in middle of state.
Greenville downtown is more fun.
Nowhere in Florida is far from the beach. Plus Orlando is fun without being right on the beach; there's water-based recreation readily available with all the lakes in the area for one.

Pretty much. I also prefer the Cocoa-area beaches to other ones in Florida. Orlando isn't that far from Cocoa.
Orlando was basically a swamp when Disney bought the land for cheap.
Greenville has fall color is another reason to chose it
