That puzzled me too. Bend is city not a neighborhood. It might have some emerging hipster neighborhoods, but there are also many yuppies and retirees as well.
Odd list. The West Loop in Chicago is a yuppie area and has been for a while now. Not hipster at all.
I know. I mean, the West Loop is pretty yuppie - it's not like Lincoln Park - it's cooler with some art stuff going on and better food BUT it's not hipster. Lot of expensive condos in that area too. No mention of Pilsen, Logan Square, Avondale, etc - this article is funny. Logan Square around the California Blue Line stop has come on strong in the last year in that regard (though it's gentrifying at the same time).
According to that article, Shaw is a hipster neighborhood because it has a Marriott Marquis, luxury condos featuring on-premises dry cleaning, and high-end restaurants owned by European- and South American-born chefs.
Yeah, Shaw is definitely not a hipster neighborhood. Yuppies though? It's got that in spades.
