I agree that Pasadena is important it is the biggest incorporated suburb of Houston, ironically the 2 biggest suburbs of Houston are both unincorporated are at be Cypress area somewhere between 250,000-450,000 residents and The Katy Area which is About 310,000 people now. Yet these suburbs are very unimportant since they aren't incorporated they feel a lot smaller than they actually are and besides cinco ranch in Katy they both feel like a collection of small neighborhoods. Katy probably has the weakest downtown in the U.S for any city of more than 200,000 people.
I think the Woodlands eventually becoming the number 1 suburb in the Houston area with Galveston unless it gets revitalized (downtown is gentrified) fighting with Sugar Land and Pasadena for number 2. It is really weird to me that Galveston County could have been the number 2 county in importance and population after Harris but now Montgomery and Fort Bend especially are arguably becoming more important than it. It also seems like Houston is unique in the sense that their is really only 1 major county unlike most large metros where their is at least 2 or 3. The next level of counties in Houston Fort Bend,
Montgomery, Galveston and maybe Brazoria. Then the up and coming would be Liberty and Waller County which have less than 50,000 people but fue to development on I-ten I really see Waller and possibly Liberty county blooming.
Aurora for the Denver MSA. Second most important, and larger than D-town in area too
Yes, today it's the "Denver/Aurora/Lakewood" Metro Area. Although, in the '70s, Lakewood was larger than Aurora. And before that, it was the "Denver/Boulder" Metro Area. Times... they do change.
