How or why is Columbus even in this poll? Columbus OH?! or is there a different Columbus?

Dallas and SJ are more comparable but which to favor is a personal decision, lots of factors could tip the balance.

Midwestern cities never win these... Let's just act like it's Dallas vs. San Jose. Bay area wins.

If you can afford to live comfortably in all 3 I'd take the Bay Area in a landslide. Dallas has lots of jobs, a low COL, great shopping, and decent dining but summers are hotter than hell, it's not very outdoorsy, and the scenery sucks.

Im going to compare ONLY the city of Dallas to ONLY the city of San Jose (not DFW to the Bay Area). I dont know Columbus well enough to make an accurate comparrison.

Nightlife: Dallas, easily
Culture: Dallas
Shopping: Dallas by a long shot
Dining: Dallas
Weather: San Jose by a long shot
Scenery: San Jose by a long shot
Outdoor Activities: San Jose by a long shot
Crime Rate: San Jose is lower
Economy: Its a wash. Both are doing well
People: San Jose is more laid back but I still find Dallas is more friendly
Overall quality of life: Only you can answer that. I would rather live in Dallas simply because money is an object and I wouldnt be able to afford San Jose.

For me, it's Columbus > San Jose > Dallas

Dallas is pretty much the opposite of what I like. San Jose is nice, but culturally bereft - at least it's part of an interesting metro. Columbus is Midwestern understated and plain-looking, but that belies a nice creative scene that's based right in town.

You do realize Columbus Ohio is larger than San Jose metro area by about 40,000 people. What other Columbus is there, that even remotely comes close? You might want to educate yourself a little more before responding.

Figures I am seeing put SJ at 998,537 people in 2013, 10th largest city in the USA. Columbus OH comes in at 835,957 people, 15th largest city in the US.

This post is the first time I have ever heard Columbus mentioned in the same breath as SJ or Dallas! I found it very surprising. So tell me about the shopping, nightlife, and cultural scene in Columbus, I am all ears. How do you rank it with SJ and Dallas? How does it compare to Chicago or Cleveland for that matter.

I will say this though, I would take Columbus over Cleveland anyday.
