im aware there are other cities with higher crime, but wanted to see the results between these 3. also for the record according to city data the crime rate from highest to lowest are:
Houston>Philadelphia>Chicago. but again, the question is which one FEELS the least dangerous to live in.
Chicago - it's very segregated, but that also means you can live in an area and be almost completely oblivious to the crime-ridden sections of town. Philly, same, but less segregated and smaller, so there's less of a bubble (and crime stats are nearly identical between the two). Houston is organized completely differently, much more chaotic and unpredictable.

I wish people would quit saying this. Just because Houston does not have zoning regulations does not mean it's the Old West and completely lawless. There are still upper class areas and lower class areas of Houston, and the crime will most likely be concentrated in the lower class areas.

Agreed.
Houston's mishmash layout means you're just around the corner from anything.
Like I said elsewhere, some people like it that way.
It could just be perception, and maybe it's not as bad as it looks on the surface. It is a different kind of place, for sure.
Chicago depends entirely on where you are. Southside and parts of the west have very high crime. Northside is effectively zero (at least felonies, murders, etc., the type that would make on feel in "danger")
It depends on the neighborhood. If your on the North side of Chicago or the West side of Houston, it doesn't feel dangerous at all.
