People argue over population too much here and walkability its annoying. I never lived in a city that I walked a lot except when I went to college in Boston, most cities are car centric this is the USA. Even a lot of my buddies that still live in NYC and Boston drive cars when they clearly don't need them.
When people rank cities by municipal population, as if the population within the city limits determines how large a city truly is. I think the metro/urban areas are a more reliable statistic than anything else in this matter. What if I suggested El Paso ranks several tiers higher than Atlanta because the city only population of Atlanta is less than El Paso? Or that Bakersfield, CA is in the same league as New Orleans?

Why Boston? That seems to be one of the more egregious examples of inflation, with an MSA of 4.5 million, but a CSA of 8 million. New Englanders, correct me if I'm wrong, but is Manchester, New Hampshire really "Boston"? Providence, Rhode Island? Again, it just seems like a childish game of how big I can make my "city" and us Americans are the worst at it.
