Cleveland got my vote for reasons beyond the MSA (s) and CSAs. Which medical center drew patients enough internationally, given some different ways of doing things, to warrant building not only branches in FL and Scottsdale, but actually build abroad? Cleveland Clinic.
Mayo defined many things in the US for decades, but Cleveland Clinic went international, given all the countries their patients lived. That's thinking out of the box, imo.
Kenyon? Kenyon is closer to Columbus than it is to Cleveland. It's in Gambier, as small-town/rural as you could get.
If Kenyon is counted in Cleveland's "MSA," then it is pretty obvious how arbitrary that MSA definition is.
I used Northeast Ohio for Cleveland not MSA. However, I did use MSA for MSP and Detroit. I was responding to the quote at the beginning of my post about Northeast Ohio being more powerful than MSP and Detroit.

A poster had mentioned how Northeast Ohio (including Youngstown) is more powerful than Detroit and MSP. I was generous by comparing the entire Northeast Ohio to only the MSAs of Detroit and MSP. I know its not apples to apples, I was just addressing the poster. If we expand to all cities to CSA then the two larger cities will pull away even more.

Cleveland is barely smaller then MSP at the CSA level, but I agree with your point.
There is no way Youngstown is considered part of Cleveland as that poster mentioned.
Do you seriously think that Mayo doesn't draw international patients? Seriously?
Yes, Mayo draws international patients. I didn't see Rochester, MN as an option above. Perhaps there should be a different type of poll with a smaller metro drawing the most international visitors or something similar.
Cleveland did build outside of the U.S. and Cleveland does some things differently than Mayo. I like differences as that creates choices.
Thanks for asking me a question not assuming you knew factors that influenced my choice. I think Mayo in Scottsdale is probably a hidden gem most people don't know about Phoenix. Mayo in FL is good too, but Mayo is wise not placing exactly the same programs in their southern extensions.
Mayo in Rochester is interesting with all the underground tunnels. I know many who have trained there and one who is currently an attending.
