Chattanooga vs Madison, WI (living, best, state, better)

Hey all I am currently living in Denver colorado. My rent is way too high at $3600 for not that much of a house.. I am looking into new cities and am considering Madison and Chattanooga. I am pursuing film production and was wondering how the cities attitude's are towards filmmaking? I would be mainly shooting small shorts/ indies and would like to be able to make a decent living in the area doing video production ( Commercials, etc). Anyone have any experience in these areas doing video production? Any comments or advice would be appreciated!

..M.J. I do not have any hard $$ numbers for ya on the Chattanooga jobs, however this city has been
on the fast track the last three years with the Hamilton county stimulus of the high speed web start up
geek companies... Also VW had creative ads, (Star Wars at Super Bowl) , horse county ,, now that those cars are built here..
. Also movies have been done here prior summers with the George Clooney old time football at the
antique RR museum.... and the old Baseball movie # 24 , at Engle stadium...

. Chattanooga is a very big sports competition city now , & in final selection of the OUTDOOR mag best city
category..The 3rd yr just finished for the national bike race title , both mens & women division.
This year saw a full IRONMAN 140 mile comp & recently some of the HALF 70 mile races... This sports
topic may be a subject you did not consider.? .. Also minor league baseball team... Tourism city
and trade shows with the Convention center... Sci- Fi events..., etc.. School cheerleading competitions..

Also lower rent topic was also in the newspaper recently with the Mayor. www.timesfreepress.com

I have lived my whole life in WI and you couldn't pay me enough to live in Madison WI, the only place worse would be downtown Milwaukee.

There is a large video production industry in Knoxville TN so that might be a better choice than Chattanooga. Otherwise they have a similar level of amenities, Knoxville might have a slight edge on night life/ entertainment. Knoxville's CC has a video production degree. For pure film work, look at Wilmington NC if you want a smaller city. I don't know much about Madison.

I haven't been to Madison, but we did just get back from Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago. I have family up there that we like to visit. Chattanooga is definitely fun to visit, good for families that like to do stuff, indoor and outdoor. The location between Atlanta and Nashville might be conducive to the film industry, with Knoxville to the east, I guess about 100 miles. There is plenty of house available in the southeast for well under 3600 hondos.
