I don't think there's a wrong choice here. Nashville appears to have a momentum and future outlook that few cities have; this is cyclical and the same could be said of Charlotte just a couple years ago. Another city will rise from the pack to be the "hot" city at some point...
I still take Charlotte. Bigger version of Nashville without the country music romanticism...

Agreed. Both Charlotte and Nashville are both booming southern Metropolises that have no end to their momentum in sight. Nashville does have the higher momentum right now, but judging by all the construction cranes in Uptown, SouthEnd, NoDa, etc. it seems Charlotte is still blazing, not to mention they are actually expanding their transit and upgrading their infrastructure as we speak. Light rail extension to UNCC, new Toll bypass just opened, Toll Lanes to open on 77 next year, etc.

Wow. Charlotte seems to be doing all of the right things to become a great city.
Charlotte doesn't seem scared of taxes and putting money into public infrastructure. As of right now Charlotte has a better way of managing as a big city. Nashville has to start bucking conservative policies if it wants to move into the next level.
overall probably Charlotte although Nashville is fairly close......Future outlook is something hard to determine based on trends either Nashville or Charlotte.....I do think Raleigh/Durham overall probably pushes Charlotte harder then Memphis does Nashville swords sharpen each other.
Charlotte, NC is to Nashville what Cliff Barnes was to J.R. Ewing.
