You mean an assumption and vague comment without context, that's what you're going with? If you're from DC, you'd be the embodiment of The District of Columbia in the metaphorical sense.

Dude, you asked a broad, hypothetical question and complain about the answers given being "assumptions" and "vague"? LOL...I don't know what gripes you have with DC, but don't take them out on me. I'm not from there.
But yes, without DC the Baltimore area would be less wealthy and would resemble a true Rust Belt metro like St. Louis even more than it already does.
Let's clear this up---DC exudes influence to RVA and HRVA....
Just last week I met a guy who does real estate in Rich and is socially involved in the local punk scene, and amongst other things, we were talking about music venues and bands in DC. You're crazy if you think DC has no influence on Richmond social culture (real estate, music, etc). Either crazy or you're really not from here...

I don't have gripes with any city. I don't know if you've noticed (you will depending on the threads you enter), but I only go at people from cities that go at Baltimore. Now you and most other posters on this may not know this, but Baltimore is an actual city, like, really. We have a mayor and everything. I know that this major city gets mistaken as Philly's doppelganger, or DC's bedroom community, but both assertions are wrong. Facts dictate this.
And none of this stuff is taken personally at all.

No one is "going at" Baltimore, I don't know where that sentiment is coming from. People are have simply been pointing out the FACT that DC's sphere of influence and impact expands much further than Baltimore. It's not a slight to Baltimore in any way shape or form, it's a mid-sized MSA and should only be expected to impact but so far. Everyone on C-D sees Baltimore as a standalone city with some influence, it however pails in comparison to the Capital Region's area of influence.
