Denver metro: chemical weapon manufacturing / storage sites, fracking sites, mining runoffs, air bases' spill zones.. It seems that it used to be a hot spot for lead & asbestos too.

Seattle metro: fill me in!

What are the cleanest places in both areas?

If you want any response other than "Google it" then you will need to provide a context to why you need this information and what do you plan to accomplish with it.

I wish I could just google it. The thing is I don't know what I don't know. I'm looking into moving my family (with a small child) to either of these cities and my question at this point is the overall long-term health risk involved in living in certain areas in /or surrounding them. After a major headache researching the Denver metro I'm hoping someone on this forum could at least point me to a resource with an overview of environmental issues in the Seattle metro..

...and you left pulmonary and cerebral edema, as well as skin cancers, radon poisoning, and the possibility of altitude induced depression off your Denver list.

We have a number of Superfund sites being cleaned up from the early days of the aerospace industry, especially along the Duwamish waterway. Other than that, there is normally very clean air due to the marine breezes and frequent rain, though in the last few years we have had periods of seriously unhealthy air from smoke coming down from Canadian wildfires.

If you want to be here in the Northwest, the Eastside suburbs are a lot cleaner than Seattle without the homeless camps, air traffic, trucks, and ships. We still get that smoke though.

A lot of the topsoil in the south sound is tainted with arsenic due to copper smelter from Ruston/Tacoma, but they have been torn down a long time ago, but the soil is still tainted.
