Beat that.
Good grief. What would the Toronto's UA's density be if only areas with residential land uses were counted? The Greater Toronto urban area has huge amounts of commercial/industrial/institutional land and parkland/ravines, a massive amount of square milage would be subtracted resulting in a much higher density per square mile.

Grousing is also the word I would have used. On to more important subjects, such as number of billionaires per square mile.

Let me guess you watched it for 30 seconds in 480p embedded video before making this conclusion?

In that direction Yonge doesn't really get going until Bloor st, 5:50 into the video. From there it's consistently great, intensifies at 9:30 in and up from there.

I was just in NYC two weeks ago and Yonge and other parts of Toronto definitely give off some NYC vibes (i.e. going down W 46 St from 5 ave to Broadway). Of course NYC overall is supersized by like 4x Toronto.

Toronto is densifying rapidly at the core with tons of high rise condos proposed, approved, and under construction. This brings many residents to the downtown, contributing to the liveliness you see in the above video.

One of my favorite drives in Toronto is down University Ave, at 1:55 in when the CN tower comes into view beyond the Canada Life building, blinking away in the distance. Can't beat it.

This is no comparison. SF beats Toronto in every aspect I can think of: food, weather, culture, things to do, natural scenery, economy, worldwide recognition, diversity, and the list goes on and on.

Here are the 10 most popular attractions in San Francisco and Toronto per TripAdvisor by reviews. To me it has always been a good proxy of how many 'sights' and icons a city offers to tourists.

San Francisco
  1. Alcatraz 34,947
  2. Golden Gate Bridge 31,729
  3. Cable Cars 12,937
  4. Pier 39 11,075
  5. Fisherman's Wharf 10,588
  6. Lombard Street 8,595
  7. Golden Gate Park 6,735
  8. San Francisco Bay 5,585
  9. AT&T Park 5,046
  10. Twin Peaks 4,189

Toronto
  1. CN Tower 14,352
  2. Aquarium of Canada 9,839
  3. Saint Lawrence Market 8,135
  4. Royal Ontario Museum 4,952
  5. Distillery Historic District 4,699
  6. Toronto Island Park 4,422
  7. Casa Loma 4,279
  8. Toronto Zoo 3,264
  9. Art Gallery of Ontario 2,742
  10. Hockey Hall of Fame 2,546

In terms of sights, San Francisco has two world-class sights (Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge). Toronto's #1, CN Tower, gets 1/2 as many hits as Alcatraz or Golden Gate Bridge.

The top 10 in San Francisco also average a lot more hits than the top 10 in Toronto.

All in all, it shows that for all of Toronto's perceived 'wonders', it can't even compete with a city of 865,000 people on sights.

And then you watch these two videos, and you realize how much Toronto is on a different level than San Francisco.

These cities are so incredibly different, any comparison seems Apples to Oranges.

GTFO with your small ocean-side town.

We're going after NYC.
