I think I read somewhere that Salt Lake City was supposed to be one of the healthiest cities in the country. Anywhere where there is good year round weather and a fairly young population I would expect to be pretty healthy.

Salt Lake City, UT- great parks, University of Utah is known to be a very good hospital, healthy culture

Lincoln, NE- Nebraska is a good state for health care, clean air, lots of good parks, lots of healthy people

Boulder, CO- Alot of people fixated on healthy eating and very outdoorsy, good healthcare close proximity in Denver.

Fort Collins, CO- Similar to Boulder.

Minneapolis, MN- Good healthcare in Minesota, great parks system, clean environment for such a large city.

Boise is often ranked as a fit and healthy city. It easily meets all of the criteria in your quoted post below.

There are city bike races, walks, runs, expos, etc. all year long.

Boise is a "green" city and has one of the highest percentages of commuters who cycle to work in the nation.

The Boise River Greenbelt is an amazing bike and walking path that stretches over 25 miles through the city and nearly 200 miles of hiking trails and single track for cycling in the Foothills that rise above the city.

Boise is a city of parks.

The city is always improving on reducing litter, recycle, etc.

The healthcare is very good for a city of its size.

Boise is situated in one of the most agricultural productive regions in the nation surrounded by mountains. One of the Northwest's largest and finest organic farmers markets takes place downtown during the growing season.

The Boise River Greenbelt might be the most awesome urban feature in the US. I used to walk home from school on part of it lo these 30+ years ago. And of course tube down the river in the summer. It's much more complete now.

Denser cities should do well in this thread. The closer things are, the easier it is to walk or bike everywhere, all else being equal.
