NYC hands down for me. Been to both. There's much more to see and do in NYC. NO feels less safe and is more "party/club" oriented, which is not my thing.

Think it would depend on where you live...for me N.O. is the easy answer...I am in the DMV and NYC is just up 95...that's a weekend trip...I don't think of it in terms of a vacation spot
