Oh yes it is, and tourists by the busloads and scores of chartered limousines and tour groups go up there and back to SF every day...

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County and you can take 101 into Sausalito:

Or you can take Hy 1 out to the coast-minutes from SF, go up into the Marin Headlands:

Many go up to the top of Mt.Tamalpais to see the view...

They continue on through Marin County, seeing other places like Tiburon:

until they come to the Marin-Sonoma county line.

Sonoma/Napa counties is what is called the Wine Country:

This is quite a blessed region.

SF's topography is undeniably more interesting than Chicago's, but anyone who says Chicagoland (and even IL) is ugly (in regards to natural scenery) has never spent anytime in the area. Hard to say a city sitting on top of a major fault line is blessed though...

Pretty soon, Chicago may start seeing more A380s then...

Regularly Scheduled Airbus A380 Routes:

Chicago: 0 routes

San Francisco: 4 routes
SFO-Dubai: Emirates
SFO-Frankfurt: Lufthansa
SFO-London, British Airways
SFO-Paris, Air France

Airbus

A380 visits Chicago: Will jet with 2 decks, first-class showers ever be O'Hare regular? - Chicago Tribune

Apparently ORD didnt accomodate the plane's gate specifications but now it does which is cool!

Fascinating how you quote the one statistic out of the ones PerseusVeil offered that favors the Bay Area.

Yeah. Doesn't really change that Chicago has more overnight visitors than SF has of any type of visitor combined.

Chicago City > SF City.
SF Burbs > Chicago Burbs

This seems pretty good. That and winters for most people are better spent in the Bay Area than in Chicago.

Agreed. Dont have any arguments there, though i think that most tourists will probably avoid Chicago in the Wintertime anyways. On the flip side, folks who visit SF city in the Summer will likely have an unfavorable view of the weather.

I think this is fair. Especially since there are so many other cities in the Bay Area with their own identity.

International travel is far more complicated than driving in from Indiana to see a concert and deciding to stay the night.

The latter is important too, but Im personally more interested in the former.

Right, Im not here to make u feel better. San Francisco has twice as many international visitors as Chicago. That's noteworthy.
