North America (Architecture): Cities of English Colonial versus French Colonial versus Spanish Colonial (state, better)

This is a thread that I've been wanting to do for quite some time but have either never had the time to compile pictures or have always forgotten about. I want to just stick to the cities that you'll see pictures of in the OP for the duration of the thread. Please don't add additional cities, even if they qualify, that will be off topic banter.

I wanted to include New Orleans but it is mixed influence between French, English, and Spanish too. I also wanted to include Santa Fe (NM) and Victoria (BC), but couldn't find enough pictures for them. Oh well.

We will compare the architectural styles in these specific American, Canadian, and Mexican cities that draw their origination or influence from these three former European colonial empires.

If you have better pictures for these cities, feel free to post it if it is yours or link it if it belongs to someone else. Google Streetviews are also acceptable too.

Tough as I like all 3 architectural styles. Go with Spanish as my favorite followed by English. I really like all the balconies you see on the buildings in that style.

Yeah, I was going to pull the trigger with New Orleans and put it under French but I have a lot of personal experience with that city and I most definitely can say you see a vast amount of architecture inspired by Creole, Spanish, and different eras of the colonial South (therefore English Colonial) to where it dilutes the French inspired stuff.

Ultimately decided to lay off New Orleans, would have trouble categorizing it, unlike the others above, which were rather easy to categorize.

Spanish, French, Creole, Caribbean, Colonial South; more than just simply French.

FKR you are right to leave out New Orleans.

The city overall is very mixed.
The quarter is heavily spanish influenced.
I love the markers with the old street names in Spanish and little details of what the buildings were in those days. Then you have neighborhoods such as Treme that are heavily influenced by French Architecture.

Now you stated that we should provide answers based on your pictures; doing that I would have to go with spanish then English. The Spanish seem to add flair and whimsy to their style wine the British seem to add statelyness. The Canadian cities on the other hand seem to be too cold looking, too grey, too much monotone concrete.

The reason I like cities built like Boston, Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans, they combine functionality, aesthetic and nature to create cities that are highly walkable and at the same time very beautiful.

Overall, though the French cities are charming. I just think the Spanish ones are more so.
