you've never been to Greenville and you are welcome to your opinion. you can't decide that for everybody though. i'm not sure what motivates you to be so anti-Greenville on here. why do you even care about it, as a person who lives in St. Louis. I guess it is because I live in Gville.
Nashville has about the worst location in the south in my view. that's a long 7 hour drive to the beacch and pushing 4 hour drive to the Smokies.
i can't stand country music so Nashville would be an annoying place for me to live given it is the country music capital.
I can tell by your posts you know next to nothing about Nashville. The Smoky Mountains are only about 3 hours away heading east. There's also the Cumberland Mountains which are only an hour east. Nashville is also surround by large rolling hills.
Not everyone in Nashville listens or even likes country music. That'd be like saying everyone who lives in Vegas gambles all day or all people in Orlando is go to theme parks. There's a lot more cities out there besides Greenville, should try checking them out before making generalizations.

The music industry in Nashville expanded well beyond the country genre quite some time ago. All types of musicians perform and record there.
One of the best jazz performances I've ever heard was in a piano bar on Franklin Pike.

i mapped it on Google before I commented. it says 3 hours 40 minutes to Gatlinburg. It is going to depend on where a person goes in the mountains.
i never said a person has to care about country music if they live in Nashville. You made an incorrect inference. i said i don't want to hear about country music and a person will hear about it more in Nashville. your premise appears to be if somebody prefers a city more than Nashville, they've never left the city that they live in currently.
i've probably been to more cities than you have. there are other cities out there other than Nashville so perhaps you should take your own advice.

i never denied that or even talked about other music genres. but you will hear more about country music in Nashville compared to other places.
it is rather pointless to do a poll like this because most people on this forum prefer large cities and the largest city / metro usually wins the poll if compared to smaller metroes.

Dude, you made the inference that you'll hear more about country music in Nashville. You'll likely hear more about music in general rather than just country. I'm not denying country plays a big part of the industry here but that's just one of many. Your presumptions make it sound like country is in your face here 24/7 which is just not true. You're likely to hear about country here as much as you'd probably would in Greenville. If you're actively seeking it out then that's an entirely different story.
You sound like you've rarely been out of Greenville so I've doubt you've traveled to as many cities as me but I digress lol. Gatlinburg is not the start of the Smokies by the way lol.

i never hear about country in Greenville, or anywhere in SC. it comes on radio, yes, along with other genres. it is obviously part of the culture of Nashville. I'm sharing my perspective. I wouldn't want to live there partly b/c of the country music thing and it is so landlocked but still a good drive to the mountains.
how do i 'sound like i've rarely been out of Greenville'. you don't even know me. i never said Gatlinburg was the 'start of the Smokies'. you make a ton of wild inferences. i named a popular tourist city in the Smokies. i don't think most people in Nashville go to the 'start of the Smokies'. so 3 hours may be doable but probably going to be more than 3 hours depending on where they go. Regardless it isn't as near the mountains as Knoxville and Greenville, and Gville is much closer to the beach. This is a comparison topic.
I've lived in DC metro, NYC metro, and Huntsville AL, in addition to every major metro in SC. probably more places than you. your premise is because I live in Greenville and prefer other cities to Nashville, i've never been anywhere else. that makes no sense. you are not more worldly than other people because you like Nashville.
