Thread over.
I would place SF as slightly more liberal overall still than DC probably due to the higher black populace in DC. Which votes overwhelmingly democratic, but deep down some blacks although tolerant to liberalism, grew up with some fairly conservative values in their households.

Offtopic - I only read the CvC subforum on CityData but every once and a great while I'll click on one of the thread links that appear on the right side where it says "Active threads form around the forum", usually due to a bizarre thread name. I've noticed that the rest of this forum appears to be super right leaning, which I find odd because the CvC subforum has always seemed the complete opposite to me. Just thought it was kinda weird. Carry on.

Ah the old "Blacks can't be liberal" saying.

SF has a very, very good argument as #1 here. SF/the Bay Area has been the epicenter of a couple of liberal causes throughout the 20th century.
Interestingly, the first major protest for LGBT equality was in Philadelphia in 1965 not SF.

It doesn't necessarily have to be first to be the epicenter.

There is a difference between being liberal and being a democrat....and apparently a lot of people don't understand that haha. I'm not sure what the most liberal cities are in the USA but if I had to guess it would be:

1. Seattle
2. Portland
3. Los Angeles
4. New York City
5. Washington DC

Just proves how easily people buy into false stereotypes.

What "false stereotypes" would those be? SF checks the box several times over when it comes to just about any characteristic of liberal cities you can think of.
