It's kind of silly to boast about how liberal those places are considering how incredibly small they are. Much easier for that to happen.
Who is boasting about how liberal those states are?

Its New England. Boasting is in their DNA.

DC has to be in the top 5. It recently approved a death with dignity bill and we have recreational marijuana.

Broken link.

BosWash corridor is not as liberal as Seattle, Portland or SF. Not even close.

No way is SLC as liberal as most of the cities on this list. Evan McMullin, a Utah Mormon, ran as a conservative Independent for President and took away a lot of votes from Trump in the state of Utah and SL County. Combine the voting percentages for Trump and McMullin and they beat Hillary in SL County.

This is not to answer the direct question posed in this thread, as that is a whole lot more complex than just "red and blue" but this report titled "the Two Americas" is interesting nonetheless. This is as appropriate a thread as any to share which cities fall where.

Trump's America:

Clinton's America:

Trump's America (by size):
- Phoenix
- Fort Worth
- Kansas City
- Jacksonville
- Oklahoma City
- Tulsa
- Knoxville
- Omaha
- Boise
- Spokane
- Colorado Springs

Clinton's America:
- All the major cities not mentioned under "Trump's America" as according to New York Times. So basically, everywhere else.

Trump did not win in Boise city limits.

Clinton was the favorite candidate in Boise, readily winning most of the city's precincts.

Your are correct with respect to SL County. Salt Lake City proper however is about as liberal as you can get. Their mayor is a female, liberal, lesbian democrat. The only way to top that would be if she were trans and minority as well.
