Mind you, all of these companies have a minimum revenue of $2M/year, so it's not like they are the bootstrapped startup operating on $10,000 for the year trying to come up with some product. This also doesn't factor in any funding/prior cash these companies had. Not sure how well your argument holds up for certain industries. Though the Bay Area is very expensive, there's still tons of people who make companies there who can't afford super expensive real estate (which is where things like incubators come into the picture).

That's the first thing that jumped out to me as well. Atlanta is ultra diverse economic wise and has done a good job promoting itself. Also Houston's number is way low considering it's what the 4th biggest city in the country?

Shout out to Atlanta.. For a metro area of close to 6M population, 220 fast growing companies with 2M+ revenue is beast mode..

The fastest growing company on the list is an LA-based company which sends people a box of items in the mail of apparel, gadgets, etc. The second fastest growing company in America with $2M+ revenue is a company that hosts group painting parties.
Tech growth has slowed this year and there have been more layoffs. Not that surprising imo, it was bound to slow down at some point.

most things are cyclical that said the combined bay does pretty well, just a stat where its not a glaring outlier as has been in recent times on many aspects
