These stats are higher than the ones that come out from the government because the government only counts overseas visitors and excludes Canada/Mexico.

I recently crossed the border by land into the U.S and entered with a bit of trepidation thinking they were going to grill me and ask me why I travel so much etc including to Muslim countries (passport stamps) etc and maybe I hit it lucky but the Agent was quite nice and it literally took about 15 seconds. Every case is different but yeah it kind of reminded me that nothing really has changed at least from my perspective crossing into the U.S but with 400K people crossing the CAD/U.S border daily I guess they have to pick their battles.
Perception however is important so I guess if overseas travellers feel that the U.S is less welcoming it could impact visitation.
