I was watching (rewatching) Sex and the City a few minutes ago and the episode Sex in another City was on. It was about New Yorkers visiting LA. Now this was almost 20 years ago but does the stereotype still exist? I feel like D.C. is very intellectual maybe too much so.
Is LA really a happier, healthier, not as uptight city? If it's not LA any more which city is? I'd bet it's Vegas but I only have the point of view of a tourist.
I've also read D.C. And LA alike are hard to make new friends as an adult. I figure it's like that everywhere. What do you think?
Los Angeles people are very healthy when it comes to exercise. They go hiking, walking or beach swimming, and biking at the beach. Plus so many are into health trends when it comes to food like gluten free, free juices and kale everything. While Im not sure they are happy, generally people are content. But because constant rise in home values and rents, I think many people have more worries than maybe a decade or 2 before. Less money more expenses and fear of having to move because they cant afford it make people not very happy. LA people are not uptight. People with a sharp pointy girthy stick up their asse are people from New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC and most eastcoasters. All they do is complain about how there is no seasons or snow and air is too dry and LA public transit sucks and pizza sucks. OMG go back then and take your smelly stick with you. seriously!!!
The healthiest cities might be the places where people walk the most...not exercise, but to get around, multiple times per day. I bet Manhattan would score well. Also hilly places...any downtown where most people use transit or walk, and that involves steep hills...
I have to say its true. I mean visited the OC. It's low cost organic food, fresh produce, farmers market, lots of veggie/vegan options, greenways/trails to bike/hike/Run, can exercise 24/7 with almost perfect weather, can run at night at ease, tons of places to swim, can do yoga, kayaking, SUP, and so forth.
Apparently New Jersey is the 6th happiest state in the USA
Ugh and it's the HuffPost reporting as well - take that with a grain of salt. NJ is easily one of the most miserable and stressed out states in the country.
L.A. I wouldn't consider "happy." People are content, motivated, and work hard. Fitness and mental well-being are certainly better kept up over NYC.
