Not too much of a fair comparison as Reno metro is a fraction of a size compared to Sacramento. Although the COL In Reno is cheaper than Sac, rents and prices are rising up due to Reno also seeing a resurgence in the tech sector. Aside from that, the gaming industry is the main cog which runs the city. UNR is a nice public school in the area which compares to CSU Sacramento, however nothing close to UCD which is an option for us in the Sac area. Scenery is a push IMO , things to do goes to Sac, jobs goes to Sac. Overall think Sac takes this one rather easily.

Reno is not in the Sierras. Reno is the High Desert, Bone Dry, practically treeless, very windy. Yes, it 1/2 hour to the High Sierras, but Sacramento is 1/2 hour to the Foothills of the Sierras, 1 hour to the High Sierras, under 2 hours to Tahoe.

Reno is much much colder in the winter, and almost as warm as Sacramento in the summer.

Reno has views because of the mountains, which is nice. But Sacramento has much greener, treelined, interesting neighborhoods, and it has views of the Sierras as well, although not as dramatic as the high peaks are further away.

Reno is too Cold for my tastes.

7:45pm - Dec 4

Reno - 28F
Sacramento 51F

Forecasted Low tomorrow morning Dec 5:

Reno - 19F
Sacramento - 35F
