Per capita GDP is a measure of the total output of a country that takes gross domestic product (GDP) and divides it by the number of people in the country. The per capita GDP is especially useful when comparing one country to another, because it shows the relative performance of the countries.
Yet you clearly stated Minneapolis beat Atlanta in economy. Referring to your post, not the above OP. And yes, Atlanta wins in that category, however you choose to define it.
Per capita income in 2016
Atlanta MSA $47,348
Minneapolis St Paul MSA $56,723

Atlanta is ranked 10th in GDP. Minneapolis is 13th. That’s all that matters. Best way to determine economic output and size.
Atlanta is the 8th largest metro area while Minneapolis is the 16th. If anything, Atlanta is under performing relative to its size.
Actually Atlanta is crushing it in growth right now. Believe we are #2 for job growth in the U.S., just shy of Dallas. With 2 million+ more residents compared to Minneapolis, you will never catch up.

Hes only saying that Minneapolis has a stronger economic output per capita, why are you being so defensive. Noone is saying Atlanta is not doing well economically. This all plays into the whole "punches above/below its weight" convo.
How so? Atlanta isn't the clear cut favorite in any of them and Minneapolis clearly beats it in economy, crime and transportation. The per capita GDP of the Twin Cities is higher than Atlanta, unemployment in the Twin Cities is 2.3% vs 4.1% in Atlanta, and Minneapolis isn't a sprawled gridlocked mess to the degree that Atlanta is.
Here's the honest answers:
quality of life: Minneapolis
economy: subjective
nightlife: Atlanta
scenery: subjective
daytime activities/events: Atlanta
shopping/entertainment venues: Atlanta
transportation: Atlanta
overall vibe: subjective
crime rate: Minneapolis
In all honesty, Atlanta is just in a different tier than Minneapolis and Nashville. It's funny how people can say Atlanta isn't the league with cities like Chicago (which is not) but try to argue factual data to show Atlanta is clearly above these two cities. Minneapolis is in the league with Denver, Detroit, San Diego and Tampa.
Atlanta is in the league with Houston, Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia, and Boston. Nashville is in the league with Charlotte, Orlando, Portland and Baltimore. However, we can believe what we want to believe if that helps you sleep at night.

I assume you also live in Atlanta or are from Atlanta? Noone here is arguing who Atlanta's peers are... it's definitely not Chicago and it's obvious it's Dallas, Houston etc..... but the last few posts are only stating that Minneapolis has a stronger economic output per capita then Atlanta.. sheesh Atl Homers I tell ya.

I don't live in Atlanta, I live in Tampa but I'm also a realist unlike the majority of the people on this site.
Per capita doesn't tell the full story about economies which is why I left that subjective. Several factors play into an economy. There are several smaller cities with a larger per capita than larger cities but that doesn't mean they're in the same league as those cities.
