Probably just where people get the stats from, there are random blogs all over out there.
For instance everyone grabs the numbers for Chicago from a certain blog, but it includes everything like self defense killings, justified police shootings or murder suicide.
Above it has 173 for Chicago as of a day or two ago, but as of right now it's at 169 in official comparable stats.
I've noticed the number of Chicago police shootings has gone down quite a bit since when everything hit the fan here and crime bounced up so much for 2016 and 2017.
NYC 101---Murders are up in NYC it up 60% in The Bronx, up 133% Brooklyn North, 5% in Queens

Just to clarify, 3 are from an arson and it may actually be 9 because I think the incident you are referring to the person didn't die, as of now. In regards to the arson, it makes me wonder how many of these homicides are not shootings or stabbings, but are arsons or similar incidents or if such incidents are considered to be homicides across the board?

So, that means that 5 were “stereotypical” homicide incidents, because of you are referring to an incident a few days ago, that person is still alive for now.

I know, but I’m saying that as of now, it isn’t a homicide.
