Have any of the cities been decided besides New York?
I find it funny that so many people on here are skipping Philadelphia, when its still a contender on every list I have seen. Philadelphia is a major sports city capable of hosting major events (as we have all seen).
Las Vegas is going to have a shiny new $1.8 billion stadium with a retractable roof opening in 2020. That city is better at hosting events than just about any other city in the country.
I think they’ve got a real shot at this. International visitors love Las Vegas.

I decided I'd done enough promoting of Philly here and needed to reserve my firepower for my forever hometown, which is a longer shot.
I think Philly is a stronger contender to host games than many participating in this discussion seem to think, partly because of the Union and partly because the games that were played here in the 1994 World Cup did so well.
Where in LV will this stadium be? Would be cool to have it in paradise near the airport side.
I haven't had my coffee and too lazy to look it up.
LV is as close to LA as DFW is to Houston.
Since some are going by geography do you think both LV and LA would be good hypothetical hosts?
Both cities are awesome host cities. However, in terms of geographic connections Dallas is way more connected than LV. So many highways connecting so many branches of the country to Dallas.
If LA and LV would be hypothetical hosts I don't see why Houston And DFW would not be either. As an inland city DFW is far less isolated than LV and a has a huge population to pull from in all directions.

Oops. Whatever I said upthread about Philly in the 1994 World Cup must be ascribed to dreams or memory playing tricks with me. Please discard it.
However: the Union does have a strong fan base. Given where the games were hosted in the Northeast last time around, Philly's chances should be slim given what's nearby, but I too have heard lots of buzz suggesting that it's actually a strong contender to land some, maybe for variety's sake (Washington can't grab the spotlight all the time or something like that).

There is a Boxborough MA but I don't think it could host a World Cup venue. Just messing with you for the typo.
