queens is technically part of n.y.c. so it counts as sharing a border (ironic since your name is brooklynjo)
Nobody is arguing about Queens being a part of NYC. The confusion here is about Hempstead, not Queens.
There’s the town of Hempstead and the village of Hempstead which are 2 different things.
Nassau County on Long Island historically was divided into 3 large “towns” made up of several smaller “villages”. It’s really the villages which are recognized today — not the “towns”.
This article explains it. It really focuses mainly on Queens and is a little bit lengthy, but IDK how to explain it myself so here it is if you’re interested: https://ny.curbed.com/2015/10/20/991...argest-borough
Forget about the 3 towns and just focus on the villages. This is a more accurate map of Nassau County. Queens (not pictured) is to the left. Notice how Hempstead on this map (this is what people really mean when they say Hempstead) is not actually on the Queens/NYC border. https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/1969/Profiles-Map
It would be more accurate to say Great Neck, Elmont, Inwood, etc. Border Queens/NYC, not Hempstead.
Yeah, it’s probdbly kind of confusing
^ the problem with those little villages is that they dont have any formal government, police department, school district, mayor, ... that i can tell so they are not really cities.
edit: according to wikipedia hempstead village has its own mayor on top of the town of hempsteads supervisor.
anyways, particularly with chicago (e.g. leyden which wouldve included elmwood park, rosemont, ...) i used the largest body city or town and not the township or burrow to reduce redundancies.

Well to be honest Hempstead is not really known as a “good” place. I think Yonkers would make a better fit for your poll.
I’d say Mount Vernon also but I don’t think people in Wesrchester county respect that place!
